Our Working Agreement

Plain & Simple Terms for Brighter Days Electrical Services

I believe in keeping things transparent and straightforward. Here is how I run my projects so we are both on the same page from day one.

Estimates vs. Fixed Prices

  • Remote Estimates: If I give you a price over the phone or text based on messages or photos without seing the property first, it is a friendly guide estimate.

  • The Reality of Trades: Electrical work can be unpredictable. If I get to your home and find hidden structural issues, unforseen faults or extra materials needed, the final price may change. I will always discuss this with you before doing the work.

  • Best Practice: A quick physical site visit before the job starts is always the best way for me to give you a 100% accurate, fixed quote.

Safety First

  • Pre-Existing Faults: I assume your current electrical system is fault-free before I begin modifications. If I uncover an immediate safety hazard or dangerous defect while working, my priority is keeping your home safe. I'll stop, show you the issue, and explain your options to fix it properly.

  • Consumer Units: I strongly advise and require an inspection and safety test of your existing circuits before a fuseboard upgrade is completed. This ensures that your home's current wiring is safe to connect to a modern consumer unit, and it stops your new board from constantly tripping on old, hidden faults.

 Sourcing Your Own Materials

  • Check the Box: If you buy your own decorative lights or smart tech for me to fit, please check the box for damage or missing parts before I arrive.

  • Safety Standards: I love fitting great fixtures, but I reserve the right to refuse to install anything that looks damaged or doesn’t meet proper British safety standards.

The Messy Work

  • To route cables, I sometimes have to cut into plasterboard, chase into walls or lift carpets. While I always treat your home with the utmost respect, full re-plastering and painting are not included in my price. For smaller jobs, I am happy to apply a base layer of bonding to help fill a wall chase, but please keep in mind I am an electrician, not a professional plasterer or decorator! A specialist in that trade should be brought in for the final finish.

Access & Power

  • Clearing Space: Please ensure the areas I need to get to (including lofts and cupboards) are reasonably clear of furniture and storage before work begins.

  • Power Cuts: Your power will likely be turned off for parts of the day. Please make sure computers are shut down and let me know if you have any critical systems running before I flip the main switch.

Invoices & My Guarantee

  • Payment: Invoices are due upon completion of the work or at the end of a scheduled project stage.

  • My Promise: I back my workmanship with a 24-month guarantee. It covers my labor and the materials I supply, provided invoices are settled promptly. It doesn't cover general wear and tear or parts you bought yourself.
